  • Mighty Tanaka Presents: Turbulent Utopia
A solo exhibition by Alexandra Pacula to begin February 19 – March 12, 2010

NEW YORK, NY – January 22, 2010 - Mighty Tanaka is proud to present Turbulent Utopia, a solo show by Alexandra Pacula, which demonstrates how life in the city is filled with a myriad of warped illusions and broken promises.  As the struggle to lead a stable life in a major metropolitan area grows more daunting by the day, Turbulent Utopia explores the dizzying uncertainty during today’s economic period of change.

Turbulent Utopia captures the twisted pace of a world passing us by, lifting the thin, vivid veil of disenchantment and exposing the true turmoil of financial and social collapse.

Through Alexandra Pacula’s distinct oil painting technique, she blends a sense of photo-realism and abstract expressionism into a surreal city landscape that is both intoxicating and familiar; a world that is constantly in motion.

    About the Artist:

Alexandra Pacula was born in Poland in 1979 and at the age of fourteen moved to The United States together with her family. She is a New York based artist and works in a studio in Brooklyn. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers the State University of New Jersey in 2002 and finished a Master of Fine Arts degree at Montclair State University of New Jersey.
