Halasz left school early, abandoning the comfortable suburbs of Southern California to live a nomadic, often homeless life among the surfers, skateboarders, musicians, and drug addicts who inhabited the low rent port district of downtown San Diego. There, at the literal edge of America, Halasz, informed by the primal values of street society, raw experiences with nature, and the self consciousness of outcasts, crafted his own unique aesthetic to address modern issues. Carefully balanced between sentiment and irony, Halasz’s chosen images of stoned lovers and pensive friends, familiar highways and dark vistas describe the unique quirks of his generation, while creating a contemporary context in which to explore the often desperate, yet timeless aspiration of humanity.
